The transition to reasoned disinfection in healthcare establishments: the AHNAC Group and Onet opt for microfiber and water-based floor cleaning
A practice that has already been in place for several years at AHNAC (Association Hospitalière Nord Artois Cliniques), reasoned disinfection aims to improve service quality while reducing environmental impact, in line with Onet's CSR policy and official recommendations on cleaning with water.
Context
For more than 20 years, Onet Cleaning and Associated Services has been working with the AHNAC Group as a biocleaning service provider. When the contract was renewed in September 2024, Onet and AHNAC initiated the deployment of microfiber and water for floor cleaning.
The role of biocleaning is to limit the risk of infection by controlling the cleanliness of the environment. Over and above this objective of quality and operational excellence, Onet's services in the healthcare sector are part of an approach to reducing environmental impact. Zoom in on the joint application of a solution adapted to AHNAC establishments: microfiber and water-based floor cleaning.
How did the decision to adopt this cleaning method come about ?
For many years, the AHNAC Group has been committed to an approach to cleanliness and hygiene that goes beyond mere regulatory requirements. The transition to reasoned disinfection is fully in line with our desire to combine health performance, respect for the environment and the well-being of our guests. Faced with a concern about the state of the floors, we mobilized our business expertise, already seasoned in the use of water-based cleaning, to intervene effectively. This prior experience enabled us, in collaboration with Mr. Kowalski, manager of the Onet Cleaning and Associated Services Arras branch, to share our techniques and know-how, to carry out tests with the Twister green disc for scrubber-driers in partnership with our suppliers, and to select a perfectly adapted mop model.
What advantages does this cleaning technique offer your establishments, and what do you retain from your collaboration with Onet?
The first virtue of reasoned disinfection is that it is fully in line with our approach to reducing environmental impact. It enables us to drastically reduce water and product consumption. What's more, it offers a number of advantages: Elimination of residual film left by traditional chemical products - Preservation of floor coverings, for greater durability. - Dries quickly, reducing the risk of slipping. This exemplary collaboration with Onet demonstrates that quality and safety are built through exchange, innovation and partnership. Together, we look forward to continuing and optimizing our services to enhance the satisfaction of our teams and the comfort of our seniors, patients and families, who remain at the heart of everything we do.
From advice to implementation : the strength of the collective
Starting in September 2024, Onet Cleaning and Associated Services teams began deploying the water-impregnated microfiber floor cleaning method already validated at other establishments in the region. The objectives: to reduce the amount of product used and eliminate floor soiling, a problem immediately identified by supervisors.
The transition to this new cleaning method was initiated in conjunction with our Onet Hygienist Nurse for the Normandy-Hauts-de-France region, Sylvie Besin. From calculating needs, to planning orders, to the periodic re-injection of new textiles, the changeover took place under her supervision.
The involvement of our supervisors and communication with our agents were crucial in installing and sustaining these positive and responsible changes. Used with a controlled pre-impregnation, the microfiber strips removed the chemo film accumulated on the floors in just a few weeks. Surfaces are cleaner, less sticky, with excellent visual cleanliness as a result.
On a daily basis, we share the solutions and innovations we wish to develop at our AHNAC sites. The introduction of this method has given concrete expression to our desire to adopt a relevant, eco-responsible approach to improving the quality of the care environment for AHNAC patients and residents. The joint deployment of solutions and feedback from our different areas of expertise will enable us to move forward together. We are planning to develop and gradually implement this method with other customers, in their own establishments. We are fortunate to be able to rely on our regional hygienist, who is in close contact with the operational hygiene teams.
Daily collaboration and communication between Vincent Kowalski, Victor Ferreira and their contacts at AHNAC ensure a smooth deployment and constant improvement of the service at the Group's sites.
