Onet wins major contract to dismantle peripheral circuits at Brennilis reactor

EDF is continuing its decommissioning program at the Brennilis power plant, entrusting the Onet technologies and Cyclife Engineering consortium with the dismantling of the reactor's peripheral circuits.

Located in Brittany, the Brennilis nuclear power plant is the only prototype in France of a carbon dioxide-cooled heavy-water reactor using slightly enriched uranium.

Decommissioning began in 1997 and is well underway. Several buildings have already been dismantled, including the fuel building, the effluent treatment plant, the machine room and the control room.

The dismantling of the reactor's peripheral circuits, entrusted to the Onet Technologies and CYLFIFE Engineering consortium by EDF's Direction des Projets de Déconstruction Déchets (DP2D), will begin in 2023. The work will be carried out under particularly demanding conditions (height, accessibility), and the use of remote operation and laser cutting will ensure the safety and radiation protection of operators.

All our expertise and know-how in complex project management, engineering, remote operation, laser technology, dismantling operations, radiation protection and safety will be mobilized for this project.
