How does Onet support a boat show organizer in his ambition to produce an eco-designed event?
Les Nauticales, France's 4th largest boat showaims to have a minimal impact on the environment. This is why the organizers called on Onet's expertise in hospitality, security and cleanliness to help them meet this challenge. Here's a look back at how Onet approached this event, its recommendations and the actions it has taken to help achieve this shared objective.

Over the past few years, players in the events industry have made environmental protection a strategic priority. "It's important to respect our environment when designing an event, and to encourage good attitudes during the production phase. It's even more important to practice this for a trade show for the general public focused on the sea, such as Les Nauticales, which takes place in La Ciotat", emphasizes Julian Rodriguez, Marketing & Sales Manager for Les Nauticales. emphasizes Julian Rodriguez, the event's Marketing & Communications Director.
Solutions to meet environmental objectives

Onet has been a partner of Les Nauticales since the event's creation in 2003. Thanks to the Group's recognized expertise and know-how, Onet's teams were consulted by the organizers to take part in their strategic reflections, notably on the environmental impact of the show.
"We know how to implement effective solutions to meet these environmental concerns, particularly at events. We are meeting the same types of objectives for the sailing events of the 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place in Marseille from the Prado beaches," explains Thierry Tomio, agency director Onet Cleaning and Associated Services.
In fact, Onet is a driving force behind the implementation of responsible solutions at events. For example, the installation of irremovable waste and sorting islands helps prevent the proliferation of waste on the site. The islands, made up of three selective waste sorting bins, will be available to the Nauticales public. Accompanied by an educational visual, the islands encourage visitors to carry out sorting gestures.
What's more, our cleaning service uses Biogistic eco-labelled products, which are safe for our staff and harmless to the environment, since they contain no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Biotechnology offers a more effective, longer-lasting service (active film for up to 8 hours after application). The Biogistic cleaning solution also helps to reduce our ecological footprint, thanks to products that biodegrade twice as fast, and their concentration, which reduces the frequency of supply.
Exhibitors, too, will be contributing to the eco-design of the boat show. They are forbidden to provide their visitors with non-recyclable plastic bags. The show will provide each visitor with a sufficiently large, recyclable bag in which to put their documents or products purchased at the show. The show's CSR policy contractually requires exhibitors to collect all their waste, especially during dismantling, in order to curb the phenomenon of abandoned materials and leaflets. The organization has even provided a practical guide for each exhibitor to maximize the impact of this action.
Last but not least, our cleanliness experts have also decided to install the "Onet Helper" system at the show, which enables us to tailor our services to the needs of visitors and exhibitors, thanks to a multifunctional kiosk containing paper towels, self-cleaning products for stands, hydro-alcoholic gel, etc. Even if the public is returning to major events in physical form, the health crisis is still present in our operations: cleanliness of the premises therefore remains a major challenge. Onet agents responsible for cleanliness will be wearing marinières to be easily identified by visitors and exhibitors.
Tailor-made security and hospitality services
Onet teams are also responsible for security and reception at the show. These services are changing this year, due to the new configuration of the show, particularly with regard to the gateway to Les Halles, La Ciotat's new catering complex. "We worked with our customer in advance to take into account the specificities and constraints of our businesses, and to adapt our services as closely as possible to the needs of the event and its visitors. In addition to security guards, SSIAP (fire) guards will also be present," asserts Sébastien Koenig, Branch Manager Onet Security.

"Reception services are also changing, with the end of vaccination pass checks. Onet hosts and hostesses will manage the public reception, ticketing, press reception and prestige reception on board the Clara One, presented on the quayside. 35,000 visitors are expected for the duration of the show, from March 19 to 27, 2022", explains Aurore Brun, Operations Manager Onet Reception.
A CSR approach that guides our business practices
Since 2002, Onet has implemented a CSR policy entitled "A Present for the Future". A Present for the Future "The environmental component of this policy is based on two key commitments:
- Produce goods and services as part of a circular economy that respects biodiversity.
- Develop activities that contribute to the use of low-carbon energy.
Over the last 20 years, we have focused on improving our environmental impact.
- On water, with a sharp reduction in ecotoxic discharges and plastic waste
The near-substitution of traditional chemical-based detergents by biotechnology-derived products (thanks in particular to the Biogistic range) prevents the phosphorus and nitrogen compounds contained in detergents from concentrating in freshwater or marine waters, leading to increased growth of aquatic plants (algae) that invade the entire aquatic environment.
- By raising our ecosystem's awareness of climate issues and protecting biodiversity. The collaboration forged in January 2020 with sailor Fabrice Amedeo has enabled oceanographic sensors to be installed on board his yacht to collect data to help scientists better understand the impact of global warming on the oceans.
