Major security challenges for the world's biggest sporting event in 2024

With more than 15,000 Olympic athletes, 40,000 volunteersand 12 million spectators present during the Olympic events, such a large number of spectators poses a number of safety and security risks: crowd movements, attacks, damage to image, outbreak and spread of fire...
To prevent the risks inherent in each site, theOnet Security teams worked closely with the Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee (COJOP), public organizations and event agencies to design a tailor-made system with dimensions adjusted continuously throughout the project.
Onet was asked to provide spectator reception and security for the Stade de France in Paris, the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, the Décathlon Arena in Lille, the Marina in Marseille and 3 training sites in the Lyon area.
A hybrid system combining hosts Onet Reception and agents Onet Security was deployed at the Olympic sites in Marseille and Lyon. The city of Marseille also called on Onet to provide security for the arrival of the Olympic flame in Marseille.
Extensive security measures to ensure the safety of spectators when the flame arrives in Marseille
The arrival of the Olympic Flame in Marseille's Vieux-Port attracted more than 200,000 spectators, presenting a major challenge forOnet Security teams: to secure more than 45,000 m² of public thoroughfare over two bank holidays! Nearly 900 agents were deployed to carry out sensitive screening and palpation operations around the entire perimeter, for the ceremony marking the arrival of the flame in Marseille, and throughout its journey to the Orange Vélodrome.

Recruiting and mobilizing talent to meet the challenge of securing the 2024 Olympic Games
To meet the human challenge of the 2024 Olympic Games, Onet Security drew on the pools of agents already built up as part of the recurring services provided by our teams at emblematic venues such as the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, the Groupama Stadium and the LDLC Arena in Lyon.
A vast recruitment and training plan, in collaboration with France Travail, local missions and various training centers, has also been launched.
Recruitment teams took part in 55 forums and job dating events dedicated to the event. This in-depth work resulted in over 23,000 applications, from which 2,400 profiles meeting the criteria were selected, creating a pool of 800 new agents. The process also helped to increase the number of women in the teams, with almost 20% of new recruits being women.
These new recruits have been provided with extra support, notably through specific training in terrorism-related risk management, to ensure a high level of operational excellence in the services they provide.
