Safety, fluidity, and performance: marking at the service of operational organization
As part of our continuous improvement process, we recently redesigned the layout of a baggage gallery, one of the key areas for baggage sorting at Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).
Inspired by the 5S principles of Lean Management (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain), our teams have implemented structured floor markings designed to enhance safety, clarify traffic flows, and make it easier to navigate the space, even during busy periods.
Three zones, three functions, greater clarity
- Blue zone: empty containers ready for use
- Pink zone: full containers awaiting departure
- Yellow zone: containers being filled, lined up along the docks
This visual breakdown allows everyone, regardless of their position or level of experience, to find their bearings more easily and act more effectively.
Concrete benefits right now
- Smoother traffic flow on site
- Improved safety for our teams and partners
- More visible, better implemented working methods
- Time savings in sorting and routing
This type of layout clarifies information so that it can be quickly understood by everyone. This allows us to anticipate the organization of operations to enhance the efficiency of our teams. It is a concrete step toward greater fluidity and performance.
