At the end of May, Onet Technologies delivered its conclusions on the study of the removal and cutting of the Control Rod Drive Housing (CRD-H) for the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Japan. This is an extremely complex operation, the study of which was entrusted to us in 2022 by MRI, with funding from the METI (Japanese government).

The presentation of the results, in front of some forty Japanese stakeholders, confirmed that laser technology is the best suited to meet this technical challenge, thanks to the numerous tests carried out as part of this project, at the Saclay and Marcoule sites, by CEA ISAS and ISEC.

The members of the project evaluation committee praised the quality of the results achieved in a short space of time, thanks to French expertise and the commitment of all the project teams.

Congratulations to the project teams on this success, which once again confirms the expertise of Onet Technologies and the CEA in nuclear dismantling and in the use of laser cutting under the most extreme conditions!
