Onet Technologies strengthens its presence at the heart of ITER

As part of its inspection and non-destructive testing activities on the ITER site, Onet Technologies is now authorized to store its own radioactive sources on site. A first on such a site.

Bernard BIGOT, General Manager of ITER, and Denis Lecocq, Director of Nuclear Services and Non-Destructive Testing at Onet Technologies, signed an implementation agreement.

Onet Security - Signing of the ITER partnership

On ITER, the first nuclear fusion facility under construction, Onet Technologies is responsible for checking welds on piping lines.

These non-destructive tests are mainly carried out by industrial radiography, using gammagraphs. These are ionizing radiation devices, equipped with radioactive sources (Selenium 75).
Until now, these radioactive sources were stored outside ITER.

To minimize the risks associated with transporting these sources, Onet Technologies and ITER teams have now agreed to set up a storage area directly on site. This new facility complements Onet Technologies' existing offices and X-ray film development laboratory.

Thanks to this agreement, teams and radioactive sources will now be entirely dedicated to the radiographic inspection of welds on the ITER site until 2025.

A real opportunity to be as close as possible to our customer and to support him on a daily basis in a more reliable and responsive way.
