Onet Security tests autonomous aerial surveillance drone on sensitive nuclear site

In partnership with Azur Drones, Onet has been trialing its new integrated safety device, the autonomous aerial surveillance drone, at the sensitive nuclear site of one of its customers since September 2020.

The objective? To demonstrate the benefits of combining manpower and technology for surveillance and safety missions on high-risk sites.

With its superior situational awareness capabilities, increased reactivity for doubt detection, and perimeter rounds 4 times faster, the autonomous surveillance drone is a real support system for security guards. It gives them an aerial view of the site in real time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, enhancing decision-making and operational response.

" The security of a site like ours is a daily challenge. The use of drones in conjunction with security guards offers interesting prospects for increasing our level of security," explains the site's security manager. This type of sensitive nuclear site is currently the only one in the world to host such an experiment.

For this mission, and with the support of the branch manager Onet Security and the site manager, our employees were trained for the positions of Teleoperator (in charge of launching and analyzing the video flow) and Navigability Manager (in charge of general supervision of operations).

" 100% autonomous, the surveillance drone carries out pre-programmed rounds and routine inspections all around the site. At any time, our security guards can take control of the drone and its cameras to reassign the drone to another mission," emphasizes Frédéric Dordain, Project Manager, Onet Innovation Division.
