Fabrice Amedeo, a sailor committed to preserving the oceans!
Almost a year after the start of our partnership, Fabrice Amedeo took the start of the 9th Vendée Globe, which kicked off on Sunday November 8.
Fabrice Amedeo, a sailor committed to preserving the oceans!
On his sailboat, already equipped with the oceanographic sensor dedicated to measuring salinity, temperature, CO2 levels and microplastic content, and after a first successful test of the device during the Vendée-Arctique-Les Sables d'Olonne, the time has come to collect these data around the world.
An unprecedented scientific opportunity
Fabrice Amedeo's mission is to gain knowledge of water quality over a three-month period, on all the world's seas, where no researcher has ever taken a sample.
During this new adventure, our navigator will also be testing two systems, OSCAR and Whale Shield, designed to avoid collisions with UFOs (unidentified floating objects) and cetaceans.
These technological advances are designed to respect the environment in which he will be navigating, as well as protecting him from potential accidents.
To date, the Vendée Globe is the only single-handed, non-stop, unassisted round-the-world sailing race.

In the current climate, taking part this year is an opportunity that he also sees as a responsibility. " It makes me even more eager to share the adventure with all those who remain ashore. We've been authorized to set off, and we'll do everything we can to make as many people as possible dream," says the sailor, formerly a journalist with the Figaro teams.
Fabrice Amedeo has always been keen to describe his daily life at sea, to share his joys and doubts - it's a deep conviction and a strong source of motivation.
For him, an undisputed lover of the morning environment, this scientific approach must be accompanied by a project to raise awareness among the younger generation. For over a year now, a team has been working in partnership with the Fondation de la Mer and the French Ministry of Education to produce an educational kit. The kit is entitled "Cétacé ! L'Océan boit la tasse". Through the pages, exercises, games and activities proposed, young readers will learn more about the oceans and discover just how fragile they are. This feature will enable classes from CM1 to 5e to follow the Vendée Globe through the prism of ocean preservation
