Private security guards, full-fledged players in the security continuum
A collective contribution to the safety of our fellow citizens
As the White Paper on Internal Security* points out, internal security forces alone cannot solve all security problems.
The security continuum thus works to strengthen the partnership between public security forces and private security operators.
The Covid-19 health crisis put this co-production to the test, and sworn transport security officers were given the same powers as municipal police to issue fines for failure to wear a health protection mask.
A sector increasingly known for its day-to-day actions
In addition to the security forces mobilized by the State in the exercise of its prerogatives as a public authority, private security also plays an important role in France's internal security.
Recognized as a full-fledged player in the security industry, the company now operates in a wide range of fields, including guarding, remote surveillance, video protection and cash handling...
In its study Le regard des français sur le secteur de la sécurité privée**, the Ifop institute revealed that 70% of French respondents felt that the private security sector "contributes to the general interest".
The profession is also well accepted by the public, who consider that it contributes to their immediate security: 77% of those surveyed consider private security agents to be effective in providing surveillance of premises. 76% consider them to be effective in providing security at cultural or sporting events, and 72% feel they can be trusted to protect property and people.
When asked to name the areas in which private security should play a greater role, "the fight against terrorism" came in4th place with 30%, just behind the three areas listed above. Proof, if proof were needed, of the need for co-production between the private security sector and public forces.
A strong link in the safety chain
Our agents ensure the safety of people and property within their sphere of responsibility 24/7.
Every day, their dynamic, attentive surveillance helps to protect places and save lives.
This month, two of our agents stationed at an institutional site in Paris stopped and handed over to the police a suspicious individual who had broken in. A third, stationed at another sensitive Parisian site, was alerted by suspicious behavior and was able to seize criminal material, including 2 edged weapons.
Private security players are eager to serve and contribute, collectively and each in their own role, to the security of tomorrow. In fact, this is what the White Paper on Internal Security is proposing, by making private security a full-fledged player in the continuum.
