Onet Technologies renews its LIDEC operating contract!

Onet Technologies scores another commercial success! By renewing its contract to operate the DI (formerly CEIDRE) laboratories at the Chinon nuclear power plant for 2021-2027, our company has signed its3rd consecutive contract for this laboratory. At LIDEC, Onet Technologies is involved in radiation protection, logistics and operations.

What is LIDEC?

LIDEC is an EDF nuclear expertise laboratory based at the Chinon power plant and inaugurated at the end of 2014. It is a new-generation facility, unique in Europe and recognized internationally, which monitors the safety and operating quality of EDF's power generation facilities.

LIDEC's role is to analyze materials in service, and to carry out maintenance and monitoring of major equipment, all thanks to advanced metallurgical, chemical and microscopic expertise. Our aim? Accumulate as much information as possible to anticipate potential failures and ensure that they never occur. To ensure this, LIDEC analyzes the degradation caused by irradiation, water, pressure and temperature shocks, using irradiated control capsules extracted from operating nuclear reactors.

Florent Duveau, Site Manager at Onet Technologies, oversees our company's services at the Chinon nuclear power plant, and in particular the operation of the LIDEC. Currently, some thirty Onet Technologies agents work in this laboratory.

Onet Technologies, a service provider since the early days of LIDEC

Onet Technologies was already one of the subcontractors working at LIDEC even before it went into operational service in 2015. Since then, Onet Technologies has continued to support EDF in the operation of the laboratory, with actions in radiation protection, logistics and operations.

Onet Technologies was recently honored to renew its LIDEC operating contract for the period 2021-2027. This is the third contract signed with EDF for this center of expertise. The first contract, for the period 2012-2017, covered commissioning (relocation of expertise equipment, implementation of radiation protection) and the ramp-up of laboratory operations. The second (2018-2020) covered radiation protection, logistics and operations. Onet Technologies will continue to contribute its expertise to these three activities in this3rd contract.

A win-win relationship

If EDF chose to renew its confidence in us for the operation of LIDEC, it was first and foremost our seniority on the project and our low turnover that reassured them. In addition to our long-standing support, our skills in remote operation, remote manipulator maintenance and nuclear transport were an additional argument in favor of extending our activity on the site.

For its part, Onet Technologies particularly appreciates the fact of being able to work on such a recent installation, enabling it to handle cutting-edge technologies, all in the highly technical activities essential to the smooth running of its business.
