As with cleaning, the effectiveness of bionetting is based on respect for the Sinner circle, which brings together 4 essential factors of equal importance:

1. Temperature of water used for cleaning 
2. The contact time required for the product to take effect 
3. Chemistry: the very action of the product
4. The mechanical action exerted on the surface.

These 4 components can be adjusted in different proportions, as in the case of steam biocleaning, which uses temperature instead of chemistry.

Detergents and disinfectants have two different purposes.

Detergent action is based on the solution's ability to loosen dirt from a surface.

Disinfectants eliminate targeted micro-organisms. Disinfectants have varying degrees of effectiveness (bactericide, virucide, fungicide, sporicide, etc.), and are selected on the basis of an analysis and identification of the risks to be controlled and neutralized.

There are also "2-in-1" detergent-disinfectant products that clean and disinfect in a single pass.

In the hospital sector, premises are classified according to the risks identified, in 4 categories/zones:

• Zone 1: minimal risk
• Zone 2: moderate risk
• Zone 3: severe risks
• Zone 4: very high risk

There are several diploma courses to become a cleaning agent:
