Dedicated tooling for checking the wear of tank lid heat exchangers

Our customer EDF needs to carry out wear checks on the thermal sleeves fitted to the penetrations of reactor vessel covers. Onet Technologies was asked to develop and qualify a specific tool for these non-destructive examinations.

As the area to be inspected is inaccessible to humans, a robot has been designed to carry out position checks (altimetry) as well as television inspections of the inside and outside of the cuffs.
This robot is precise and lightweight, making it easy to use during unit shutdowns and maintenance operations.
Designed in conjunction with Cybenergy, it films and transmits visuals in polar coordinates under cover. This makes it ideally suited to inspecting thermal sleeves, but could also be useful on MCG ratchets.

Qualified in February, this service was carried out simultaneously for the first time at the Penly and Gravelines nuclear power plants in May/June 2020.
This new success has enabled us to expand our range of inspection services for the vessel covers of PWR power plants, and completes our offer of industrial cleaning services in nuclear environments.

Congratulations to all the teams involved in this project!
