Bolted Assemblies training courses in detail

Our training course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive set of skills required for the safe and efficient production of tight bolted joints. This training is mandatory for all those involved in the tightening of watertight bolted joints, whether experienced or not. It also aims to familiarize participants with the fundamental principles and advanced practices of bolted assembly, with particular emphasis on applications frequently encountered in the nuclear industry.

In this context, participants will learn about the history, issues and vocabulary involved in this learning process:

  • Joints, flanges, bolts
  • DI single/multiple selectable
  • the appropriate types of bolts and nuts according to the specific requirements of the project, taking into account the anticipated loads and current standards.

The course also covers the KD assembly, disassembly and tightening basics (without calculation), enabling trainees to understand how to properly apply tightening to assemblies, and how to use measuring equipment.

For practical application, the course includes practical work and hands-on training on BPDU-type models for clamping, as well as on BPDU-type models for inspection and fault identification.

Safety takes center stage, with an exploration of relevant safety standards and best practices for preventing accidents and maintenance non-quality (NQM). The practical side of the course covers assembly techniques, including the use of tools to ensure tight assemblies.

In addition, participants acquire skills in blueprint reading, which is essential for correctly positioning bolts according to project specifications. The inspection and maintenance of bolted joints is also an integral part of the training. This enables any potential signs of failure to be detected and the necessary action taken.

This bolted assembly training course offers a complete approach, from theory to practice.

Teaching objectives - Target skills

At the end of the course, trainees will be able to :

  • Identify the technical requirements for tightening bolted joints.
  • Check the conformity of parts making up a bolted assembly.
  • Produce a bolted assembly.
  • Distinguish between different clamping methods.
  • Conformal assembly of single, multiple and KD DIs.
  • Identify the impact of incorrect KD or DI mounting direction.
  • Ribbing.

Choosing a training organization

Key factors to consider

Our training fully meets EDF's requirements, including :

  • A practical part on a BPDU
  • A practical part with immersion on the CIN training site
  • Validation of prior learning at the end of training
