Need to modernize the reception environment to meet the wishes of site occupants

As part of the surveys we regularly carry out among SNCF Regional Management employees to assess their satisfaction with our reception service, several respondents expressed the wish to make the reception area more modern. During a follow-up meeting, this wish was shared by our customer.

SNCF Immobilier entrusted us with the task of redesigning this first point of contact with visitors, embodying the image and values of the SNCF.

Redevelopment objectives :

  • Modernize the reception area,
  • Encourage interaction between staff and guests,
  • Reduce the risk of accidents for guests,
  • Stay within budget,
  • Follow the SNCF graphic charter.

Analysis of the reception area :

As experts in the hospitality industry, we have identified areas for improvement in the reception area, in order to :

  • Improving operational efficiency
  • Ensuring optimal service for visitors and site occupants
  • Ensuring the best possible working conditions for our guests

Based on this observation, we offered the SNCF a support service: drafting of specifications and layout plan, selection of service providers, selection of furniture and layout solutions, organization of reception continuity during the works.

Selection of service providers :

Research was necessary to select service providers who met our requirements and those of our customer. We insisted on certain aspects that we considered essential: the lifespan of the materials used, the budget and respect for the SNCF's graphic identity...

Once we had received the various quotations from the suppliers we had contacted, we presented the best proposals to our customer. To facilitate the final decision, samples were tested directly on site, to get a slight idea of the final rendering

Guarantee continuity of service:

During the renovation work, the site's reception area had to be reorganized. This temporary solution was co-constructed with our customer to guarantee the continuity of our service: physical and telephone reception, mail service...

An efficient, modern reception environment:

When the work was completed, a number of changes were made, notably to the furniture and layout of the workspace:

  • Layout of the reception desk :

This reception counter has been designed to facilitate the reception of parcels by adding a dedicated space by lowering the counter. The hostess is much less exposed to the risk of accidents when handling heavy loads. It also encourages interaction between the host(s) and disabled or reduced-mobility customers.

  • Change of furniture :

The reception desk, floor and carpet at the entrance to the regional office have been replaced. The carpet was custom-designed with the SNCF logo. Lighting was also added for a modern touch.

Additional services for a personalized user experience:  

Once the work was completed, a regular flower delivery service was set up to decorate the reception area, with a nearby florist delivering by bicycle. In keeping with the company's commitment to local action and sustainable development.
