High-precision disinfection operation for Montpellier students at the start of the school year

In preparation for the reopening of schools in the Montpellier region, the municipality chose teams from Onet's Montpellier branch to provide cleaning and disinfection services for living areas. Here's a look back at this major project, with its high stakes and strict sanitary measures!

Proven expertise in Montpellier

The contract was won in recognition of the expertise and experience of the entire Onet Montpellier team. Indeed, it was very important for Montpellier town council to entrust this mission to a service provider with cutting-edge expertise in sanitary cleaning. For over 20 years, Onet has been working at the town's university hospital (CHU). Within this healthcare establishment, our teams provide a wide range of services in various areas such as the emergency room, the nursing center, and also in the reception rooms for people who have been screened for Covid-19. In March 2020, an on-call schedule was even deployed to carry out airborne disinfection in areas treating patients with the Coronavirus.

The municipality therefore decided to place its trust in Onet by promoting its bio-cleaning solutions.

A rigorous 3-phase school cleaning and disinfection protocol:

To guarantee the highest level of sanitary safety for all Montpellier schools, the Onet agency has deployed a precise intervention protocol, identical to that used in hospitals: a double disinfection after a systematic cleaning operation.

During the 5-day mission, Onet's agents first cleaned up the site. The aim of this first stage was to restore "order" to the schools, which had been closed for almost 2 months. Next, all the schools were disinfected by fumigation. This is a high-performance solution. "The fumigation process is bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal", explains Lysiane Moll, manager of Onet's Montpellier branch.

Finally, all the furniture and teaching materials were disinfected by hand. More than 80 employees took part in the operation.

A major disinfection project

The 123 designated schools represent a vast area of intervention. In total, 176,000 m² of indoor space and 60,000 m² of outdoor courtyard were secured in record time.

A mission like no other...

A single watchword: "We work for our children!" It was this motto that particularly encouraged the agency's teams. For more than 200 of the Montpellier branch's 350 employees, it was a question of their children's schools, particularly those of CHU employees. An investment marked by affection and solidarity on everyone's part!

Unprecedented mobilization

In order to complete the project on time, it was important to bring together as many employees as possible. The agents showed great determination and cohesion. "Above all, it's a team success," confides Lysiane Moll, manager of the Onet Montpellier branch.

In fact, the agency was able to count on the mobilization of agents from Montpellier University Hospital. The team was also supported for 2 days by 5 employees from the Perpignan agency.

Last but not least, two members of the agency's payroll department volunteered to support their colleagues. A great initiative!

An intervention hailed by the mayor of Montpellier and reported in the media!

The mayor of Montpellier, Philippe Saurel, praised the quality of the cleaning and disinfection services provided in the city's nursery and elementary schools. He visited the Sarah-Bernardt kindergarten in the Millénaire district, where one of the teams in charge of this task was working.

" We were warmly thanked by Mr. Le Maire, including our employees, one by one," enthuses Lysiane Moll.

The visit was reported on the website of the daily Midi Libre. Find out more here.

Those involved in disinfection in schools: testimonials.

Ayada Anis, a cleaning agent, speaks of her pride at having taken part in this major operation: "I was honored to take part in this project, and I was able to share many emotions with my colleagues and superiors during the week, particularly those of success when we finished the last classroom. I didn't think superheroes existed before, but by the end I felt like one. When the project was announced - 123 schools in less than a week - I was 1,000% ready. For me, it was a professional challenge, but also a desire to help my town so that our children could go back to school in good conditions. At each school, during the cleaning, fumigation or final disinfection, I thought of my daughter who attends one of these establishments. This gave me the strength to get the job done and finish on time, despite the pressure and responsibility of the teams involved. I'm proud to have done it, relieved and also a little tired!

Stéphane Coussinoux, Operations Manager, also shares his experience : "In all, over 90 people were mobilized in record time. Our agents were there, because we needed them, because it was their children's schools, but also because we have an exceptional agency, and here, at a time of heavy demand, not being there is more the exception than the rule. Everyone gave their all. Given the circumstances, I can't hope to relive this kind of event and it will remain an exceptional challenge, perhaps unique, but I already miss those feelings of relief, satisfaction and above all pride towards my teams when we finished the last school."

Aurélie Humbert, administrative assistant at Onet's Montpellier branch, was keen to volunteer for this major operation. Here's a look at the reasons behind her choice: "First and foremost, solidarity. From service agents to branch managers, we all work for Onet Montpellier. So when extra work of this magnitude comes up, it makes sense for me to feel involved and, if possible, to offer my help. What's more, we immediately understood that a large number of people would be needed, and that we had very little time to recruit and train them. Having a background in bio-cleaning and as a former Area Manager in the field was stronger than me! It was a very rewarding experience, because we had to plan, organize and provide support in a hurry. The challenge seemed colossal, but achievable nonetheless. The motivation of each member of staff and our professional conscience pushed us to give it our all. Last but not least, the satisfaction of having contributed to the success of the project was a constant source of motivation. In conclusion, I would do it again without hesitation!

Carrie Sybille, customer-supplier assistant, shares this enthusiasm: "First of all, I felt invested with a mission, as I have 2 children. With my experience in cleaning, I couldn't see myself staying at the office knowing that the whole agency was mobilized to carry out this operation. Once the week was over, I was very proud of myself and my colleagues for having done all the work to ensure that the children and parents had the best possible start to the new school year. All in all, it was an excellent experience which I hope will have an impact on our brand image."
