Employee prevention and protection: Onet Security Humaine and Accueil et Sécurité branches equip themselves with defibrillators
Last Friday, October 22, the POP day "Piloter Onet en Prévention" highlighted a risk frequently encountered in the workplace: cardiac malaise. Here's a look back at the significant mobilization of the Onet Security Human and Home department in an attempt to reduce the risks ...
The health and safety of employees and customers, a priority for the Onet Group
Aware of its responsibility as an employer, the Onet Group has for many years pursued a strong policy to guarantee the health and safety of its employees. Through various awareness-raising initiatives and the sharing of best practices, we are committed to reducing occupational risks on a daily basis.
The annual POP day, "Piloter Onet en Prévention", for example, mobilizes all our employees in France and abroad. The program includes conferences, workshops and e-learning training courses on topics such as quality of life, various professional risks, accidents in the workplace, chemical risks, etc.
It's an opportunity to make them aware of the specific risks associated with their job, but also to make them aware of the impact of their actions on the safety of others.
POP 2021 or how to limit the number of deaths from heart disease
Every year in France, an estimated 50,000 people die from cardiac arrest. The Red Cross estimates that 20,000 deaths could be avoided each year through first aid training. According to Global Heart Watch, only 20% of French people are trained in first aid, compared with 80% in Germany. It is therefore essential to democratize this training in order to limit the number of deaths.
This 7th edition of the POP was an opportunity for the Onet Group to educate its employees about cardiac risk and teach them life-saving gestures.
The Onet Security Human Resources and Hospitality department is committed to
The Onet Security Human Resources and Hospitality department is keen to do its part to prevent occupational hazards and protect its employees and customers, and to try to significantly increase the chances of survival following a heart attack. Following on from POP Day 2021, 14 defibrillators have been installed in branches where the equipment was not immediately available. "Although the installation of AEDs (automatic external defibrillation) is not compulsory, we felt that their presence was essential in order to prevent cardiac accidents", explains Arnaud Hermelin, QHSE Manager within the management team.
All Onet Reception and Onet Security branches are now equipped with defibrillators. Listed on the Staying Alive app (the app that locates the nearest defibrillators), these devices are accessible to everyone 24/7.
"This decision to invest in specific equipment was never seen as a constraint, but rather as an opportunity to guarantee the health and safety of our employees. Many cardiac accidents occur in the workplace. The rapid and informed use of a defibrillator can significantly reduce mortality" comments Florence Bigé, General Manager for the Human Security and Hospitality business lines.
In the event of cardiac arrest, blood circulation generally needs to be restored within five minutes if the victim is to survive.
In order to be able to intervene in the event of an accident on site, and considerably increase the chances of survival for those suffering from a heart attack, all Onet Security agents and Onet Reception hosts are trained in basic first aid and defibrillator use.
But to go one step further, the Onet Security humaine & Accueil branches, supported by management, have committed to providing specific SST (employee first-aid) training to all their staff. This training consists in imparting specific first-aid skills: mastering first-aid gestures, raising the alarm in the event of an incident, spotting dangerous situations, etc.
Numerous other actions are regularly carried out for employees and customers. Falls, gestures and postures, chemical products... news flashes devoted to specific occupational hazards in the workplace, for example, are sent to all employees and customers.
The frequency rate, an HR indicator for measuring employee exposure to occupational risk
With more than 71,000 employees, in France and abroad, working on a daily basis at our customers' sites, it is essential to ensure perfect health and safety conditions for the provision of services.
Measuring the frequency rate is therefore a key HR indicator for estimating the frequency of accidents in the workplace.
By calculating the number of occupational accidents resulting in at least one day's absence from work per million hours worked, the Onet Group is able to prevent occupational accidents and implement an effective risk prevention strategy, business by business.
