Safety, a priority for the Onet Technologies diving team

Onet Technologies' divers work mainly on nuclear facilities, in the reactor building or fuel building pools of nuclear power plants, for our customer EDF. They also work on other types of installations, for Orano or CEA for example.

The operations carried out by our divers are varied: mechanical work, welding, object recovery, pipe cutting... depending on our customers' requirements. It's a highly technical job, requiring a great deal of preparation and training.

These operations are always carried out in teams of at least 5 people, to ensure everyone's safety in the event of an accident or illness.

The underwater intervention team consists of :

  • an intervention manager,
  • a rescue diver,
  • an assistant to the intervening diver,
  • a rescue diver,
  • a rescue diver's assistant.

According to Patrick Luçon, Business Manager and Hyperbaric Prevention Advisor: "The number of people is chosen according to the risks involved on a site. It's true that on non-nuclear sites, we can afford to have 4 or even 3 people for certain public works operations. In the nuclear sector, given the divers' equipment and the environment in which they work, working in teams of 5 or more is a real safety issue.

Annual emergency drills

Every year, the entire hyperbaric intervention team takes part in emergency drills to maintain the right reflexes in the event of a diving accident.
