English, a real asset for our security guards

Our security guards are regularly required to communicate in English as part of their duties. Onet Security provides its staff with a range of specific tools to help them improve their English skills. Most recently, we distributed to all our security guards a pocket booklet containing basic private security vocabulary in English.

Onet sécurité - English welcome booklet

Onet Security puts English at the heart of training for its agents

French people's level of English is among the lowest in Europe, despite the fact that companies are becoming increasingly international. Proficiency in English has become a recruitment criterion in many fields. The private security sector is no exception. Indeed, depending on the site and its security context, our agents may be required to communicate exclusively in English. As a result, we have decided to make learning English a central part of our staff training.

At Onet Securitywe offer a range of tools to help our employees improve their English. These include " Onet Learn ", an online training platform offering specific modules dedicated to learning English. In parallel with our ongoing training initiatives, we decided to create an English booklet for our agents.

The English booklet, an additional teaching tool for our agents

Given to our security guards at all our customer sites and local agencies. This lexicon (English/French) lists the basic vocabulary of the private security industry. Its small format makes it easy for agents to consult. All our agents are covered by this glossary.

This booklet will enable our teams to rapidly upgrade their skills. In some sectors, English is essential for site security. We are seeing a sharp increase in demand, with companies looking exclusively for security guards with a good level of English.

To guarantee the safety of foreign users, it is vital that the instructions given by the security guard are understandable, for example during an evacuation procedure. Part of the booklet is devoted to technical terms used in emergencies (fire, armed attack, natural hazards, etc.).

This tool will evolve in the future, and we intend to enrich the lexicon by adding new translated technical terms. This update will be based on the operational needs of our agents. The ultimate aim is to offer an English booklet with a varied vocabulary, while retaining its pocket-sized format.
