Flood management by Onet Security at DRPJ Paris

Onet provides security for the Direction Régionale de la Police Judiciaire de Paris, with a team of around ten fireand safety officers.

A major flood occurred in the basement of the DRPJ, endangering the building's occupants and installations.

Teams fromOnet Security managed the incident in close collaboration with DRPJ management, the fire department and the site maintenance department.

A sensitive site with equipment to protect

The DRPJ in Paris is a 5th category ERP with a capacity of over 1,600 people. It is a strategic site for the judicial police, with sensitive data and expensive electronic equipment: elevators, UPS, fire safety systems, X-ray detectors...

When the flood was reported to the fire safety station in the late morning, our teams had to supervise :

  • Coordination with fire department, water and electricity services, and DRPJ management
  • Safe evacuation of occupants from flooded areas
  • Protecting flooded electrical equipment
  • No power supply for the site's fire safety systems
  • Maintaining public reception and RX control in non-flooded areas

Methodology and responsiveness for guaranteed safety:

After the SSIAP team notified the Paris fire department, a reorganization of the workforce was immediately put in place to carry out all emergency interventions and maintain the site's continuity of activity.

A crisis unit was set up to collaborate effectively with the fire department, water and electricity services, law enforcement agencies and our customer.

Our agents were fully familiar with the DRPJ site (access routes, surface area, special security equipment, etc.), and accompanied and supervised the various participants in their respective areas of responsibility.

The water services were able to stop the flooding after a few hours.

Occupant management to ensure safety during evacuation:

On-site staff were notified by their superiors to evacuate the building gradually, to avoid panic. Our agents made rounds to ensure that instructions had been received and to reassure users.

Within a few hours, occupants and visitors were evacuated from the flooded floors.

Our agents then ensured that all the elevators in the facility were unoccupied, and shut them down to prevent further water damage.

Major responsibilities assumed by the Onet Security teams:

At the end of the afternoon, when the power supply was restored to safeguard the equipment, our teams took on the responsibility of ensuring that no-one was left in the flooded areas at risk of electrocution. Equipped with megaphones to warn of the operation in progress, they meticulously inspected all the building's infrastructure (from -4 to DRC). After multiple checks, theOnet Security team certified that the premises were empty, and power was safely restored.

The commitment of our agents ensured that the site remained operational:

The fire safety systems were also affected by the loss of power. With 12 hours' autonomy, the systems were no longer operational during the incident.

Faced with this situation, our teams stepped up their preventive rounds throughout the building. By increasing the frequency of their rounds, our operatives ensured the continuity of the fire safety service in the infrastructure and superstructure.

Our day and night teams took it in turns to restore the situation and enable us to continue welcoming the public in complete safety.

Congratulations from our customer

The DRPJ congratulated the entire team for their professionalism and responsiveness.

Our site manager Onet Security was even awarded the Bronze Medal for acts of courage and dedication after supervising rescue operations and taking on major responsibilities.
